Remember, it was written for idiots. But that doesn't mean he had to recommend procedures like that!! Mine timing hole is messed up also, but the plug I have covers it up. I also use a wrench on the generator, but have to apply pressure in the belt span to get past the compression strokes. Wrong belt, I'm sure...no shims between pulley halves...what is the correct belt again, and the source?
