[T3] Hood Latch Problem

<x-charset iso-8859-1>I replaced the glove box portion of the hood latch mechanism because I broke it when it took all of my weight to get the thing to open.

It did nothing to help me be able to open it from here. The latch can barely be moved when the hood is closed, and it moves it with some resistance when the hood is open. The cable looks good with no apparent rust and the sleeve looks to be all in one piece. When I unlatch it from the spare tire well, the mechanism disengages the hood easily.

The hood is slightly off alignment to the drivers side. When moving the latch while watching the under the hood mechanism it looks like the part where the cable is attached is slightly rubbing against a spring. The car has never been wrecked.

When moving the mechanism that is attached to the hood, I moved it to the pass side to compensate for the alignment, but no help. What else should I try? Loosen the cable? Is there an adjustment that I am missing? Car is a 73.

Thanks,
Robb
