It sounds as though one cannot just take a type 3 into an alignment 
place and expect it to be done right. If that's the case can it be that 
the long standing shimmy in the front end can be from regular alignment 
shops not aligning it accurately? When my dad owned my fasty the front 
end had a shimmy on left turns for awhile and one of the VW shops it was 
taken to put on a stabilizer bar to the steering column ($100) and that 
didn't correct it. Is it that without the manual specs it won't be done 
right?
That might explain alot.
