I'm familiar with how that was done on pre-68 beetles, but I can't quite see it 
on type 3s. I've looked at the microfilm and I can't see it there, either. I'm 
assuming this would require a non sealed beam headlight. Was there a hole 
in the bottom of the reflector where the parking lamp bulb poked in?

Surely there were non US destinations that got sealed beams, however.
