I was thinking of the different "sales codes". These are the six digit 
codes by which the cars were ordered from the factory. If the car was 
specified by the sales code to have an automatic, it was made as an 
automatic, had sales code as an automatic, and thus the automatic wasnt 
an option on this car? Just a wild guess, really.
