Original pistons have a step on them to house the thin metal plate, roughly triangular shape with a hole for the pin that holds the pads. These must be at the bottom of the housing with the calipers fitted. If there are 2 bleed screws on each caliper, and they have these triangular shaped pieces of metal, they must be fitted on the correct disc. If they do not have a shallow step in the piston, they are later calipers and can be fitted either side. 100 miles isn't much to make any comment on uneven wear really - the 8mm or so should take maybe 30,000 miles (or more) to wear down. 100 highway miles could equal no wear at all. The outer wheel on a corner has more load on it, and therefore is doing more breaking. Maybe the wheel is tending to make the disc move away from the inner pad a little. I suggest you wait for at least 500 miles of town driving before worrying about uneven wear. Dave.
