Yes, the 21 colors included several layers of primer between color coats. Some of the colors were comprised of adjacent layers of primer. I remember final colors of red, green, and white to complement my dark blue car. My theory is that this particular hood had been damaged a few times either during production, delivery, or at the dealer, AND was traded off one car to another to another to another . . . repainted to match each time, until it finally landed on mine. I know that there wasn't any damage to the car until I got my hands on it. Other places I did some sanding revealed regular primer then final color only. It was just the hood that experience the color schizophrenia. I'll have the opportunity to check more places on the car when I start back working on it, hopefully very soon, so I can get it running in time for Myrtle Creek next year. I tossed the hood years ago, so I have no way to get any more details than what's in my head. BTW, a hood will fit into the back of a Sqbk, just barely, and with a very high potential for damage to the headliner. I think I poked a hole in mine. Jeff '67 Sqbk -----Original Message----- Do you mean 21 colours from the factory? With 21 colours (some primers?), yours was a very unlucky car indeed! They would all need to be contemporary colours though. ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
