That's what I drive. Stock rims are 4.5" wide at the bead, 15" diameter, and have an offset of 46mm. > I have to chrome empis and im looking for two more, > when i complete the set I want opinions on what tire > size i should use, and if low profiles would look > better. Wider tires require wider rims to work correctly. Looks are in the eye of the beholder, but don't put wide tires on narrow rims and expect anything good to come of it. You should also know that type 3 rims are a different offset from beetle rims, and the Empi's are probably beetle rims; they have the right diameter and bead width, but the wrong offset. > Is it the bigger the number the wider the tire? 165 is the tread width in mm. > what makes a tire low profile? If it has a tread width/tire height ratio of less than 80%. Low profile tires will have the ratio added to the size as in 185SR15-80 - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
