Finally using that POR-15 I ordered about a year ago (amazing how far ahead in my head I was) to paint the engine tin and stave off the ugliness. So, if you've not used this stuff, here's what I learned today: 1. Wear gloves. I'm already dreading having to shake hands with the executives this week, as I look like I just stepped out of Cooter's garage. Denatured alcohol doesn't even make a dent. Maybe I can sandblast my hands. 2. Buy pints. If you're doing small piecework, you'll waste less. 3. As much as I hate to do it, what with breathing well and all, fog the entire frigging driveway with bug spray. I'm not sure why, but I had a swarm of little flies descend on me shortly after finishing the big items. Of course, I didn't notice the effect until I finished a smaller item and saw that my engine tin is encrusted with about 10,000 of the little bastards. Well, they're rustproof little bastards now. Wet-sanding, anyone? Hooray, nonetheless. Progress. P.S. In a few weeks, I'm going to sawzall '67 square #3 to bits to get it out of my garage and claim the heater channels. Anyone need some body metal? Make me an offer. Remember: I'm not cutting into this for a few weeks, and it all goes to the recycler at the end of the day. Be specific, and don't bother asking me to hang on to this until you decide what you need, as I've been fending off the "home-moaner's association" for a week. No fenders, no doors, just the carcass. Thanks, have a high-quality weekend, and wear gloves. av ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
