Russ, I only had to haul it 5 miles max., and never did over 25 mph max., as I wasn't in any hurry. If it had been more miles,I would have pulled them,as I had everything I needed to pull the outer CVs. For the short hop, I decided at the last minute against pulling them. I was VERY careful though. After I got it running, I checked to make sure it goes forward and reverse, no ill effects as far as I can tell. Still need to actually drive it, after I hook up the wires for the kick down switch ( it's there, the switch, I mean.) And I need to work on the brakes, as it looks like it still has the OE hoses ALL around. Can you tell me the part # for the head light relay ? As I' ve got no high/low beam action ( both high and low do work, but no relay action--works if I use a jumper wire.) Do you think I should use this dizzy: Bosch # 0 231 176 044 , VW # 043 905 205H, or should I just throw in a 009. Got it running right now with the above mentioned dizzy. Motor is a stock 1600, dual carbs(32 Solexs), single quiet pack muffler w/ header. Fixed the left front head light- cleaned the fuse block contacts. Fixed the brake lights- replaced the switch, one terminal was broken off of both switches.
