<x-charset iso-8859-1>Lori=> How do I do it? Steel wool? Start with aircraft-grade paint stripper to remove the paint. Then dig out the rust pits (you'll find more and bigger than you expected), I use a brass wire wheel on a power drill motor. *Then* apply the rust killer, then epoxy self-etching primer right away, then light filler for the pits and scratches. There's a lot to know and a lot of nasty work involved if you want to be sure to get this right. It's not really something that the novice should try without experienced guidance. If you're planning a just-for-the-next-couple-years repair, this is more than you'll want to undertake. => will the guys that paint The B. know (about codes)? They will certainly know about code mixing, but they won't likely have references for old VWs, so you'll have to supply the research if you want to match what you have, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to buy the paint separately to ensure it's of adequate quality. Bear in mind if you walk into a quickie paint shop without very good preparation and knowing exactly what you want, you'll get crap.
