>I'm wondering why people like certain year type 3's and the advantages of getting an earlier or later model, whether or not anyone has A/C, whether or not people prefer FI... > Early vs. late: I like the very earlier models because the stock interiors are more stylish. Ivory knobs, 2 tone upholstery, etc.. Of course, it's getting hard to find an early car with the original interior either intact or in nice shape. I like the shape of the 61-69 models better. The 70s models are too boxy, IMHO. Seems like everything is plastic too. My '67 is better because: Disk brakes 12v electricals Easier to find parts 1600cc engine - better for today's highways Seat belts My '63 is better because: It's a more beautiful car - the interior, the 2-tone rims, etc.. FI: I've never owned a FI car but I can honestly say it would not bother me to have one because of the list resources. I know if anything went wrong, the list could help me fix it. One thing I have learned from the list, it sucks to own an FI car that has been converted to carbs. or has had the FI messed with. >Also, I know I have always preferred manual transmissions, but it seems like an awful lot of people on the list have automatics... by choice or by circumstance? > Is that true? Sounds like a good reason for a poll... -- Everett Barnes '63/'67 Squarebacks ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
