This last sunday I finaly got my shorty manifolds for my dual 36 DRLAs!!!! I put them on. NOT EASY. the hardest part was puting on the sparkplug wires! I have CB's 044 heads. (not the cnc ones, just reguar with 40x35 valves and dual springs, solid rockers shaft w/ swivel feet). Maybe its the sparkplug hole angle but the sparkplug wire ends just barely fit under the manifolds. Maybe It would have been easier to remove the engine? (Toby?) I got the 1" aircleaners and double checked the clearance and it fits nicely. Too bad the air horns don't!. To add to the fun its very hard to get to the inside studs on either side, especial the left side (oil cooler is in the way). I looked at my crossbar and the aircleaner bases and one of the ball ends is missing. Also the cross bar is too short! I did find teh correct ball end at a FLAPS but the bolt side was too small. So i switched to my other linkage set. It doesn't have provisions for aircleaner. Looks like the 48mm linkae set out of CB catalog. This set has teh ball ends screwed into teh cross bart and got to bushings on teh aircleaner bases. Worked well, but the bar was a little short. After i get it all hooked up i find out that the accelerator pump jjets are working! NO!!!! I took the right carb off and inspected it. I had forgot to put teh springs back in! Too bad i couldn't find any so I used the springs out of my ICTs. Wich BTW worked out great. I'm not sure if i hooked up the accel pump arm correctly though. Being fixed I put the carb aback on and fired her up. HUGE vacuum leak( I think) i got some spitting back through the throughts and through the jets! It took a long time to come back to idle after opening her up aswell. Would that be a jetting problem? I have right now 30mm vents 180 air 130 main 9164-2 emulsion and 55 idle w/ 50 accel jets. To top it off I have class at 12:30 and a test at 1:30. Luckily my professor let me take my test later. (After i took the dells of and re-installed the icts.) BTW my left carb had a vacuum port. I checked it and it had vacuum at idle and none at speed. I thought the vacuum ports on carbs acted the opposite of that? My icts do.
