Hi, This is my first post. My name is Mike and I live in Tucson AZ. I own a '62 notchback. I have owned it a long time and not worked on it in years. Unfortunatly it has been stored all this time and I have not drivin it in years. I have the time and room to work on and drive it again. I have many Q's and hope I can help with the few things I know.

I used to work at a VW shop. The hubs are not safe if loose. Those nuts are to be torqued beyond belief. When they are loose they beat the splines out of the hub(usually). Or they remove the splines from the axle or both and then it is much $. More than 50% of the cars that came in on a wrecker with a "blown up trans" had the splines beat out of the hub. Axle spins in hub and you go nowhere. As for the lug bolts. Who knows. I had a 63 Ghia that would just start spitting out lug bolts into the hubcap until the wheel was about to fall off. I replaced the drum.

My car is chassis # 054358. I would like to know what engine I need to be correct for that car. I have a bunch of parts, but I want to do it right. Also are there 2 types of quarter windows over the years. The ones I have never fit right and fall, out if you open them. All help is appreciated. TIA Mike
