We'd been watching the forecast and radar maps for hours... it *looked* like
it was going to be okay.

And it was!  There was some moisture hanging in the lower sky, but that also
helped to block out the light of Chicago.

I'd say that we saw about 100 shooting stars.

The *plan* was to get there too early, then sit in a warm car (gas heater
:-) until we saw the beginning, then get out in the freezing cold and watch.
Two things changed the plan: first, we slept in until 3:30 central time.
Second, the temperature was quite a bit warmer than we guessed.  So, we just
got out from the onset, and it was fine.

Last time I went to Circle Yer Wagons in Sevierville, TN, I had my Nikon
camera, lenses, strobe, etc. all stolen.  Unfortunately, this made taking
carefully-planned shots of meteors over the T3 impossible :-(.
