You can recalibrate those using a electric drill, and a stopwatch. You will also need a piece of old speedo cable with the speedo end on it (or I just used a square drive bit when I recalibrated mine). You use the electric drill to drive the speedo, and you have to hold it at a constant speed, it doesn't really mater what the speed is, as long as it is constant. You make a note on what the odometer is on, then start the drill and stopwatch at the same time. Let it run for a while, until your finger gets tired on the trigger of the drill ;-) and then stop the stop watch when you stop the drill. Divide the time it took in minutes by 60 to convert it to hours, then divide that figure by the amount of miles that ticked over. What you get should be the reading in MPH that was on the speedo during the test. Do this a few times and get the average of your readings, then you can adjust the needle higher or lower as needed, and re-test to see if it is right.
