I should think there's a possibility that the low compression on 3 is a valve beginning to burn. That's the favourite one for trouble. It would explain the slightly high HC too. Turn it over by hand - any difference in the sound, such as a hissing sound that suggests the sealing isn't as good on one cylinder? I had that on my bus when no.3 exhaust valve had a notch in it. Mileage is never very good on a Bay anyway compared with the Type 3, so I usually don't keep an eye on it either as it's too depressing! Dave.
