Re: [T3] AVP worldwide? (was Re: [T3] Engine for sale...)

They are local to me, sorta, since they are in Sacramento,
about 50 miles away. My experience is several years old,
so I hope things haven't changed.

I had a air-cooled Vanagon at the time (2L FI) and munged
a head. They welded it for me with success on the cheap.
They understand the head dropping problem rampant with
Vanagons, and know how to prevent the problem with the
heads they work on.

They don't (didn't) do anything other than stock engines,
so no fancy stuff, but they do them well. In the years
I've been on T2 & t3 lists, I've only read of one person
unhappy with them, but I can't recall why.

If my T3 needs an engine, I'll go there (I don't have time
to DIY). I toured the shop and was impressed. They grew up
from a VW repair shop to an engine rebuild specialist. They
sell to other shops primarily, so don't get recognition
directly.

Wait for other feedback too.

So, just out of curiosity, is AVP held in higher or the same regard with the
likes of GEX?

Not intending to throw any rocks, I just wanted to ask the general question.

BTW: "Futurama" tonight is all about Volkswagen Vans. Har.

Happy November.

> Almost complete T3 engine for sale. I paid $1100 for a BRAND NEW, ZERO
MILE longblock (with a NEW AS41 universal case, and BRAND NEW heads) from
AVP worldwide. Then, I installed the generator, intake manifolds, carbs,
oil cooler, fan, fan shroud, and all that stuff from my old engine. I had
all the cooling tin sandblasted, gave it 2 coats of primer, and a high-gloss
black hi-temp finish. I also cleaned and painted the intake manifolds and
the carb linkage parts, and rebuilt the 32 PDSIT carbs. The only thing
missing is the distrubitor. NEW fuel line, NEW fuel pump, and BRAND NEW air
bellows. It has been cranked, but never actually started or run. Please
email me directly at punkdork55@aol.com. Please make offer, thank you.
