All type 3 calipers have 2 pins. Only early type 1 Ghias got single pin calipers. I assume the part you're talking about is shown in the Bentley manual, 2:fig 7-17, item 6. Note that in our cars it would be installed at the BOTTOM of the pad cavity. There is a better picture showing it installed in fig 7-10. It really justs functions to make sure that the cutout in the piston crown is held in the right orientation. I don't think the pistons have any tendency to rotate if this part is left out. Some pad kits come with these, and some rebuild kits do to, but they are often not supplied. I usually just bend the old ones back into shape and reinstall them.
