That would explain why the Cibie sealed beam Beetle conversion gives spots of light ahead and nothing left for the verge. Checking the parts book there are no Type 3 sealed beam units with any handedness specified. i guess it's just a matter of how far to right or left you adjust that pool of dipped beam light. Is this generally true of sealed beam lamps? Are they all symmetrical, and if so how well do they light the edge of the road? The newer VWs seem to have multiple little lamps and minimal lens effect, presumably to address this problem. Dave.
