Re: [T3] long trip, leaky seal

The tough part here is knowing what a worn out part looks like. On stock
engines, I find that the Sachs pressure plates seldom need to be replaced,
the throwout bearings usually are fine, and the driven disks occasionally
wear out.

An experienced Bus owner once told me that they just use an open-ended 7mm
wrench to test for clutch disc thickness. If the wrench slips on, the disc
is past its wear limit.

They also said they sucessfully used brake cleaner to remove oil from the
clutch disc. I have never tried this, although I can verify it works on
brake shoes.

I broke the center out of a Sachs 6v clutch disc once, make sure your top
engine bolts are tight if you want to haul a big load up a big hill.
