If you look at the little tube that the normal combustion intake comes thru 
(the one just to the right of the cooling air intake bellows) then I think it's 
clear that you could get a lot more air out of the fan housing heater outlets, 
of which there are 2. 

Certainly, there is a limit to the air that you can get from ANYWHERE, but 
those fan outlets will provide WAY more than the stock setup. Look at the 
inlet impedance to the fan, it's HUGE. It would be almost impossible to come 
up with a more free flowing intake. Then we pick up a tiny amount of boost 
from the fan. 

The flow impedance via the stock cooling fan is probably 50-100 times better 
than stock.
