The only symptom is it taking a long time to start it up. Once it starts, it seems not to be any problems, it idles a little rough when cold, but warm it runs well. As I have previously stated, all else is well, he checked the fuel pressure regulator and it is good. When you switch the car on the pump comes on and then off as it should, so the relay is fine. The filler overflow hose is good, the tank is relatively clean, as is the screen. The fuel filter is new. The problem as it is described to me, is this... The fuel pump turns on with the engine, in order to produce 31 psi it has to have resistance in the circulation line. This is done with a kind of check valve in the pump. My check valve is not functioning, therefore no resistance, and no good pressure. The fuel is just racing around at full bore. It is having a hard time getting up to 31 psi. That is what he explained to me. Does this sound wrong in some way? Perhaps it just needs to be cleaned? nathan 1970 fastback I think you need to look into this yourself and find out what makes them think the old pump is "going out." I don't think they have any idea what they are talking about, and whatever symptoms they have taken to say something about the pump, are probably being misinterpreted. What are those symptoms. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
