<x-charset iso-8859-1>Actually, these are all symptoms of outdated technology. E-mail based newsgroups and forums are old technology, and show their limitations with these issues and the fact that you can't post pictures or HTML messages. With the availability of web-based forums, such as Shop Talk Forums or VWVortex, this e-mail based arrangement is becoming somewhat antiquated. On a goof, I set up an air-cooled VW forum at http://pub39.ezboard.com/baircooleddubs last Friday. Its very small, and in the developmental stages right now, but it offers a more user-friendly interface. No worries about extended quotes in messages, long digests full of redundant information, no mailbox full of messages that may or may not be helpful to you, and the ability to link to pictures if they're posted somewhere on the web. This Type 3 Mail List is a wonderful resource. Perhaps the technology behind it is a bit dated and/or overtaxed.
