<x-charset iso-8859-1>Well, I spent the last two days stripping the '73 down to the body shell, a frightening proposition for it's either the full-on restoration or a tow to the scrap heap now. There is no way to go back to the way it was. The underside of the dash is stripped, every nut and washer is off the car and in a bag with an ID tag. Lot's of surprises, the pan is shot, literally, it looks like it took a direct hit with both barrels of buckshot, the footwell on the driver side is reminiscent of the Flintstone mobile. All that remains is to pull the engine on Monday, and it's off to the bodyshop on Wednesday morning. Small world realization: the body shop owner said he recognized my Notch when I showed him a picture, claimed it was at his shop 15 years ago to be worked on, Said he tried to buy it but the owner sold it out from under him before he could finalize the deal. Well, I'm the guilty party that bought it, he said he would pay me back for buying it out from him when I get the bill, OUCH. Looks like it's going to be about 4-6 months to redo her the right way, there were a few cars around the shop that looked like good quality work had been done to them, I'm not looking for a concours trailer queen, just a decent daily driver. Hopefully, there will be good news coming out of here soon, I feel like I'm somewhat of an expectant father. David "shouldn't I be boiling water or something?"
