If you're putting a 73 engine in a 71 and they are both FI, you should transfer all the FI parts from the old 71 engine onto the new 73 engine. The only thing that I can think of that is actually different is the throttle position switch, which you can just move by itself. I would also use the old 71 distributor. This wire 33, what/where is it? I suspect that it is part of the EGR or some other emissons part which the 71 does not have. The only thing I can think of that has a WIRE connecting to a WIRE can't be a 33. You really complicate your life by mixing parts. Keep it a 71 and everything will work much better for you. There's no problem with the 73 core engine, just make sure the FI parts are a matched set. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
