I finally got the wheels from Jane painted and the radial rubber (165R15) remounted and the tires balanced and ready for Sophie. This litle project became more urgent when one of the 15 year old (or more) bias ply tires gave up on me the other day. Fortunately it was while she was in the garage. Anyway, what a difference having radial tires makes!!!!!! I set the pressures to 17 front and 28 rear as per my owners manual. Much more stable ride. Absorbs the bumps and potholes of the Michigan roads much better. Much better feel through the corners. Just amazing the difference. Wish I had done it sooner. Only negative is that the steering efforts are much higher when I am stopped. From the larger contact patch I am sure. Next up is my engine rebuild. Have all the parts except the full flow kit from Berg and it is on the way. Going to finish the heads this weekend and start assembling the lower end. Maybe be ready for the swap next weekend....... Later, John Jaranson '71 FI AT Fasty (Jane) '66 Square (Sophy) with new radial tires........
