I did the floorpan on my 71! I have mixed feelings about the process... with my car I wirewheeled the pan sections but found that the Duro Extend I put on in 1988 (that had failed) was still leaving a hard to remove residue, especially on the intact paint, so if your pan has been previously treated with something consider paint stripper first or the surface prep may be inadequate. Secondly, the original carpet is glued down around the edges.. and while the pan paint seemed rust free and intact under the glue the glue was easy to smear OVER the rusted parts when I tried to wirewheel the old residue off... leaving me with doubts about the surface prep along the glued areas. Nearly all of the tar from the tarboards was gone so that really wasnt an issue with me but I know it can be... a scraper is your freind here... it ALL has to come off. So... if your starting with a virgin pan... that would be best but plan on alot of prep... stay away from petroleum based solvents and perhaps a paint stripper to get all the glue off... its a real pan-in-the-butt! but the POR 15 itself seemed to perform well...
