On a car that is destined for the scrap heap anyway, this is probably a fun 
and interesting experiment, especially if you don't expect much of it.

You need to look in to the licensing and insurance problems before you start, 
and keep in mind that you will lose LOTS of structural stiffness when you do 
this. Even if the floor is solid the doors may not close right, and the floors, 
etc are seldom solid at this age. On this car, you may well discover that ALL 
the strength was in the part you just cut away.

Approach this with care!
