Well, After getting this '72 FI fastback (aka zippy) running pretty good last week, I came across a couple of problems this weekend. When first starting, zippy idles rough and really doesn't want to go if the gas pedal is feathered. After a couple of minutes zippy runs much better most of the time. A couple of times this weekend, however, zippy, even after warming up, would suddenly lose power and smoke out the tail pipe. Zippy's generator like would fade in and out as if he was dying (but not dead). When it happened this afternoon, I pulled over and shut off the engine. I saw gas fumes coming out of the tailpipe. When I started zippy again, white smoke came out. I waited a couple of minutes, started zippy for a third time, and he ran fine for the rest of the day.
