...don't try it at home. You may recall a few weeks ago I asked about performing a compression test on an engine on my bench using an impact wrench to spin the motor over. Well I tried it the other day and proceeded to just gall the threads on my fan bolt. The engine did not turn over once. So I just tore it down...I was going to anyway. Going to wash the parts tomorrow and get everything ready for shipping to RIMCO for case work and balancing. Then have to get the order in to Gene Berg for the full flow stuff. Hoping to have the engine done in the next couple of months so I can get some miles on it before the pilgrimage to Parma. BTW, I did a compression check on the engine in the Square and came up with 115, 110, 95, and 100 on Numbers 1,2,3,4 respectively. The spark plugs all look nice and tan to light brown. I am going to check the valves this weekend and the head stud torque on the right bank. Considering the engine has 95K mile on it and sat for 10 years in a shed before bring fired up this summer without a major overhaul, I am pretty happy. It make good power, runs smooth, starts easy. Can't ask for much more. Later, John Jaranson '71 FI Auto Fasty (Jane) '66 Squareback (???)
