Right, but just dumping it in a partly filled bottle of waste fluid will do the same thing, while not returning dirty fluid to the system. I may not have made a good enough point about old brake fluid. Standard DoT-3 & 4 brake fluids all absorb water out of the air. This reduces their boiling point and makes them somewhat corrosive. Unless you have changed over to Silicone brake fluid, you need to flush your system with fresh fluid every few years. Every year is probably too often, but every 5 years is definitely not often enough. Since NOBODY does this, most cars end up with rusty hydraulic brake parts and you end up putting lots of time and/or money in them after 8-10 years. That's why I have gone to silicone fluid exclusively in my old cars. This has completely eliminated my brake rebuild problems. So don't reuse your old DoT-3 or 4 brake fluid. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
