<x-charset ISO-8859-1>My rebuilt tranny cost me over $2000 and you need to use the 914 tranny if you want things to be easy. The engine will need to be a T4 or Porsche 911 style to mate with the 914 tranny. If you put a T3 engine you're gonna have to deal with an adapter kit to mate the engine w/the tranny AND then you have to make an adapter to mount the T3 engine in the engine compartment...I recommend sticking with a T4 engine :) Rust: Biggest is the stock battery tray area. Also the forward firewall in the engine compartment (mine was so bad you could push thru the metal into the cabin). Sweet car but I don't recommend putting T3 stuff in it and there isn't much VW stuff in a 914 that can go into a T3 without modification.
