<x-charset iso-8859-1>I'm stripping and re-building my '72 squares front axle. One problem that I have found is that the rubber suspension bump stops or buffers have split and are looking quite sad for themselves. The ones for the lower torsion arms are fine, but the upper torsion arm ones are done for. The little metal retaining sections have rusted off as well. I've welded on new retainers using a bolt and flat washer, but what can I use to replace the rubber stop? I've looked at a type one rear axle rubber stop, they use the same metal shaped retainer, but the middle of the rubber is hollow. If I cut that down to size, I'll end up with a nice water trap and more rust. Anyone know of a suitable rubber stop that I could use from elsewhere? On another note, I've also found a small rust hole in the axle. This is in the lower axle section at the very bottom, where the axle fixes to the chassis and is clamped by the cover plates. Am I ok to weld this up?
