When the engine is hot the cylinders will continue to fire after you shut off 
the spark, just from hot parts in the combustion chamber. This is called 
Dieseling and can be hard on an engine. VW installed electromagnetic idle 
jets on their OEM carbs to cure this, but they had some problems of their 
own. 

On your Webers, I don't know what you can do. Running them rich will help 
them run cooler, but the rings and cylinders will wear faster if there is excess 
gas in there.
