<x-charset iso-8859-1>Well Jim you've done it again. My mechanical advance mechanism returned to it's position very slowly after the CW twist. Oiling the felt pad didn't do the trick so I opened up the distributor today. I remover the breaker plate so I could get at the advance assembly. I used lots of spray electronic cleaner because I figured it dispersed oil but left no residue then used regular engine oil to lubricate everything when I was done. Now the advance is silky smooth and my faltering is gone!! I don't know how you do it, but THANK YOU JIM!! Any suggestions? Open up the dist cap and grab the rotor. Twist it CW. It should twist maybe 15 degrees and then snap back on its own when you let go of it. If it feels rough at all, or doesn't return unless you help it, put a couple drops of oil in the felt pad in the end of the shaft under the rotor. Check this again in a couple of days.
