That's funny! We used to have a cast iron hot tank at art school for
cleaning off really stubborn silkscreens that were crapped out with ancient
dried ink. Same thing - some alkali-based stuff that I don't think anyone
ever changed for twenty years...

We just called it the toxic death deepfryer.
