These are both bad suggestions.

A visible spark there is dependent on a number of things, especially how 
quickly you pull the points open.

Grease or oil on the points will attract dirt which you don't want, and the 
electrical discharge there will rather quickly break down the grease into 
carbon which will interfere with good conduction thru the points. Everything I 
have ever seen or read says to keep the points free of oil or grease for this 
reason. I'm even careful not to get my fingers on them when I'm installing 
them, just to keep skin oils off.
