I replaced the boots on all of my ball joints a few months ago. I also replaced all of the tie rod ends with new ones. As Keith (I think) mentioned, you will need to have the front end aligned after doing this. I went to a local shop that was recommended to my by some local VW people. I brought my Bentley along just in case. Good thing, too! The technician asked me for the spec and I was able to show him the specs from Bentley. He was surprised to see toe-in specified along with the camber that is recommended for our cars. He would have set it up without any toe-in if I hadn't had the Bentley. "Are your sure you want me to set it to these settings? I wouldn't recommend it." Fortunately , he was good enough to let me watch the process and should me the settings and he set it to the factor specs. Definitely bring your Bentley with you when you get it aligned and insist on the factory specs. One other note, (Stop reading here Keith and Jim) I have lowered the front end one outside notch to get her to sit a bit better. I think the rear has sagged a little with time. Anyway, the tech was able to get the front end within the factory specs with the front end lowered this much. Even the caster was within spec.
