[T3] running lean when hot

<x-flowed>Q:  my '70 squareback has a rough idle when it gets hot.  if i'm 
stuck in traffic, when it's a hot day, when i'm getting off of the 
highway, all of these result in a lean running engine when she gets 
hot.  i asked my mechanic about the condition and his response was 
that it was a normal condition and there is not much to do about it. 
when i step on the gas, anything above an idle when hot, the motor 
runs just fine.

is this a common problem that anyone else experiences?  am i crazy?
