It helps if your transistor radio is like my little Hitachi - It's one of those "pull it out of the dash and you can still listen to it through it's own built in battery and speaker" type systems which came new with my type 3 :-) I drove about 50 miles in a beetle with my lights on after the electrical system let all the smoke out.
