It shouldn't be necessary to leave them loose. I suspect that something is 
out of place and is being pinched when you tighten them all down. You're 
better off now just pulling it out a bit and finding out what the problem is, 
rather than waiting for something to pinch thru the insulation and burn up the 
wires or worse.
