[T3] Just how hot is too hot?

If the fuel pressure is too LOW, the injectors will not deliver
the proper amt. of fuel -> running lean (hot), and lo octane
fuel will also cause VeeDubs to run hot. I sucked a valve guide
on a engine with less than 500 miles on it from cheap gas.
These babys were built mostly in the age of leaded fuel and
higher pump octane, both of which contirbute heavily to burn
temp. It ain't nothing but premium for the 71 Fasty and I have
had nothig but joy since. And the injector problem has been the
bane of many a reman'ed fuel pump that can't put out enough
volume/pressure. You wanna see 27-31 psi fuel at the fitting
between the left hand bank of injectors, otherwise, check your
pressure regulator. Seems you've covered most of the other
bases.. and I'm sure you're not running synthetic oil.. since
most will NOT carry heat, unlike petroleum based oils. So
that's my 2 cents worth.. I could be wrong..

Getting too much gas would make it run cool, not hot, so I'm
not sure where
your problem really is.

Start with the basics: Is all your cooling tin there? Are the
spark plug air
seals in place? Is the cooling air intake bellows secured at
both ends and
intact?

Then how about the timing and valve adjustment? Is the mech.
advance
working smoothly?

There is probably more than one thing wrong with this car, so
you need to
check out several things. Make sure that the charging system
regulating
voltage lets the system voltage get up to 14 or so volts at med
RPM and
above.
