cars have fiberglass bodies (more often these days with carbon fibre or
kevlar).
It's not too difficult to make a poor fiberglass product, but quality costs
time.  There was a rumour that Innovations bought some fender moulds from
Day mouldings, a small UK company that produced superb front fenders for
Type 3s.  I don't know if it's true.  I don't like the idea of a floorpan
made off the stuff though.
