Thanks to Jim for sending side gears, the new transmission is now
in Phillip. Shifter clicks into all the gears too! We spent half a
day cleaning parts, so the whole assembly looks good too. There was
nearly an inch of gunk on the brake backing plates.
Tonight I broke open the heater control box (per Bentley's
suggestion). My poor wife has put up with the heat stuck on year
round. Even with the wire disconnected the flap was not closing.
After prying off the cover I replaced the the very worn cotter pin
holding the flaps askew. After I played up my accomplishment Ginger
gave me a kiss!
I'd also like to give a shutout to my brother-in-law Richard.
Let's hear it for recently laid off hot rodders with free time to
help!
