If there's really dirty red fluid in the vac line between my manifolds and VM, does that necessarily mean the modulator ist kaput? My understanding is, there's a diaphragm in there, and the only way ATF could get into the vac line is for the diaphragm to be torn. Should this lead me to believe that the VM needs replaced? Also... where the cable from the shift-lever mates to the tranny case, there's an accordion sleeve protecting the business end of the cable. Mine's torn, and there's oily goo (I'll assume gear oil) splattered forward along the cable and underside of floorpan. However, the cable and moving parts attendant thereunto seem to be fine, and I don't see anything squirting out of this area when someone in the car moves the shifter. Is this crucial? Sign of other problems? Thanks. --timmy ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
