At some point it might be interesting to swap temp sensors from one side to the other just to verify that they are not at fault here. Just a guess: Have you noticed that some of the 3-4 cooling air is dumped out at the front of the engine after passing thru the oil cooler? The oil coolers originally had some foam rubber on top of them to keep air from leaking over the top and getting wasted. Most of these original foam pieces are long gone, but I found a nice source of durable replacements. I have these available for anyone who needs one.
