<x-flowed>i have a 70 and it has a double tee bracket, that looks old but does not look like vw made it. it connects to the two holes tou mentioned and springs out so the license won't slap against the body. i think something like this could be easily fabricated with some scrp metal or some from homedepot and a pop rivet gun. let me know if you want pics, i can do it tonight, if i can brave the 108 degree temps this afternoon.

How do people attach their license plates on 70 and up fatbacks? Mine had a
aluminum holder that was riveted into the truck lid, but the brackets broke
off. I drilled out the rivets but what can I use to replace this without
drilling new holes? I would like to use the existing holes, but do they make
brackets like this still?
