<x-charset iso-8859-1>Leon, I'm just curious about your route. Why are you going back into California and up to Burns and across. By your numbers, that's 517 miles. I think an easier trip is to travel from Reno up I-80 to Winnemucca, then on Hwy 95 all the way to Parma. It's only about 405 miles that way. You can cut over 100 miles off the final leg of the trip. Whenever the folks from the local VW club leave Boise to go to any of the shows in California, this is the route that they take. This year 4 busses went that way with no problems (except the '63 deluxe that lost a wheel, but that's another story). I personally have never driven most of that route before. I've only done the part in Idaho, driving down to the Oregon border to go camping at Lake Owyhee. On the other hand, I have driven from Ontario, OR to Burns, OR several times, a few of them in air cooled cars. It's not too bad, but you do have four small passes on US20, plus another on US395 in Oregon. US95 only has one pass. It seems it would be easier to shave 100 miles and 4 passes off of the trip.
