First off, I have no FI experience at all. Greg M gave me a pointer that cured my rough idle (disconnected hose) At any rate here is my problem. I have '69 Square with FI and manual trans. Bought it from the original owner (little old lady type of thing). When I got it home and got it running the idle was rough and it was puking smoke, but it started every time, no problem. Talked with Greg M and he told me about a hose that may be disconnected that runs from (something?) on the left side firewall to part of the intake (center of engine) Again, I have no clue what these are called, I have never dealt with FI before............... Any way he was right. I found said hose and it was not connected, I hooked it up and everything is smooth, seems it was running *very* rich. I changed the oil (alot of gas in there) set the valves, timing, etc. Now about a week later it doesn't want to start when cold. It sputters and coughs, etc. while dying and being restarted. After a few minutes of this it purrs smooth again. If I shut it off, it fires right back up, let it sit for more than an hour and I have to do the whole song and dance over again. Any ideas??
